Establishing Values with our New Client Values Survey

At Full Stop we know that every client’s needs and goals are different. We have developed tools to help us get to know you, your values, and your priorities better so that we can design the best home for you. The newest tool we are using is a New Client Values Survey which we send to our clients once we have discussed the scope and sent a contract.

Over the years we have found that when working on homes, especially homes where the client intends to reside, it is important to have detailed conversations about what the values for the project are so that we can help guide our clients to the design that works best for them. While goals and scope may change over the course of a project, we can always refer back to the values to evaluate whether the project is on track or successful.

One of the biggest challenges is navigating the old truism that you have to pick two: on time, on budget, or just the way you want it. We strive to get as close as possible to all three, but circumstances often arise that mean difficult decisions have to be made. Knowing the clients priorities are along with their budget can help us avoid these difficult choices late into the project.

As an example, we have worked with clients whose main priorities were having the most beautiful wood work and the finest architectural details. They cared the least about the timeline for the project so they were able to put the project on hold until they were able to afford it. Though at a similar scope of work, that project was entirely different from another set of clients whose main priority was working quickly to get their home renovated for sale.

While the questions on the survey are ultimately to help us understand our clients better, we hope that they also help our clients gain clarity on their values around the project they are about to undertake. If you are thinking about starting a project on your home, take a look at our New Client Values Survey to help you set priorities. Then…
